Conference Overview

The theme for the 2020 Power of the Alumni conference has been announced . . . "Focus on You!"  The conference will look at the essential elements we need for our own wellbeing based upon the book Wellbeing:  The Five Essential Elements.  Shirley Stelbrink, Class of 2006, will lead this discussion.  Pick up a copy of the book now on Amazon! Preread is recommended, but not required.

The fun begins on Sunday, February 23.  The Marketplace opens at 5:00 p.m. with vendors, raffle tickets, silent auction, and hors d' oeuvres.  Keynote speaker Colleen Kannaday, President, Advocate-Aurora BroMenn Medical Center, will engage us with her presentation at 7:15 p.m. Click the link to view a copy of the PROGRAM AGENDA.  Please note, this is a tenative agenda and subject to change.

Leadership Illinois is invested in our communities and making a difference.  At the POA, you have the opportunity to support two programs in the Bloomington-Normal area and receive a raffle ticket for your contribution.

  • The Suit Up Closet is a service project created and maintained by members of Heartland Community College Phi Beta Lambda chapter.  The purpose of this student organization is to develop leadership skills and excellence in business students.  The Suit Up is a part of a service project students created for their peers.  There are three closets located around Heartland's campus for students to take business clothing for job interviews, internships, and work.  All items are free to students.  We will be collecting gently used women's business attire, shoes, and accessories at the POA to donate to this program.

  • YWCA Labyrinth Outreach Services to Women offers reintegration services including transitional living, to formerly incarcerated women.  The overall vision is to significantly reduce recidivism.  They help rebuild each woman's dignity and nurture her growth as she develops the attitudes and skills required for productive, independent living.  You can assist by making a donation of femine hygiene products, new underwear, socks, and sports bras.

A friendly little competition between classes.  The class who has the most registered guests attend, will be invited to a private suite for a wine and cheese reception. All attendees from the winning class must be registered for the conference to attend the reception.  An announcement naming the winning class will be made on or before February 18.  Deadline to register for the conference with guest for contest participation is February 17.

Leadership Illinois BUSINESS CASE/ROI to provide organizations for employee reimbursement of conference registration.
